Welcome to Anime-Myth
Here you will find annotations and articles on fairy tale and folklore use in anime and manga. Of particular interest may be the section on the mahou shoujo genre itself. A complete study of the genre's history as well as the conventions. Finally, there is an area concentrating on fairy tale literature itself, criticism, and history.

I reread Darnton's The Great Cat Massacre, so the short review is up for that. At first glance, I thought the first chapter might be useful on the upcoming Shugo Chara write-up, but Darnton's essay led somewhere else. Which was still ok. The two upcoming essays I have in progress are for Belladonna of Sadness and Shugo Chara (covering the manga and first two seasons).

After eleven years, I find it time for change. I'm a little sad, but happy too, to say goodbye to the old Anime-Myth. The interest in the site as it held has waned and in my opinion, fell into obsoletion. The domain will still focus on fairy tale and folklore articles, in particular annotations and essays related to anime and manga. The mahou shoujo project is still my baby, it will be brought to completion. As a new addition, I am adding a section for fairy tale criticism itself. As the French salon period is my particular favorite, most of the works discussed will be from and on the French golden age of fairy tale literature and history.
